New Mexico consistently produces great mule deer, as evidenced by over 150 Boone & Crockett mule deer entries from the state. We hunt mule deer throughout the entire state, but we specialize in hunting units 2B, 2C, 5B, 7, 17, 30, 31, 32, and 33. Muzzleloader and rifle hunts usually take place in late October through the middle of November. Our primary tactic during these rifle and muzzleloader hunts is spot and stalk.
Some of our favorite mule deer units also offer a late season January archery rut hunt. You can expect to see lots of big bucks up close and personal on this hunt. Public land mule deer tags are issued through the NM Big Game Draw. Over the last 5 years, we have averaged 85% shot opportunity on public land deer hunts.
